Hello Sir Joshua,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the study of sin. I particularly appreciate your point that understanding sin helps us recognize its consequences and guard against the deception of Satan. Your reference to the Garden of Eden clearly shows how deception and self-interest can lead a person away from God’s instruction.
I also found your statement that sin is ultimately against God very significant. It reminds us that sin is not simply about breaking a rule but about damaging our relationship and fellowship with God. Understanding this makes obedience more meaningful because we are not merely trying to avoid punishment; we are choosing to honor God and remain aligned with His will.
Your point about temptation targeting our inward desires also stood out to me. James 1:14 reminds us that a person is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires. This is why we need to remain grounded in God’s Word and depend on the Holy Spirit rather than relying solely on our own strength.
I agree that knowing Christ has set us free from the bondage of sin should motivate us to renew our minds and consciously choose obedience. This understanding encourages me to take temptation seriously while also remembering that, through Christ, we have the grace and power to overcome sin and continue faithfully in our Christian walk.
