ParticipantHello Humble, thank you for such a great response. I like the fact that you didn’t just generalize about the healing dimensions, you went as far as pointing out different areas of which these truths about the communion can bring healing to your body. Because have seen some argument where some authors pose that the healing obtained via communion only involves spiritual healing. But in course of responding to this assignment it has been established that this is not just spiritual healing, it involves both emotional and physical healing as well as any form of healing you desired from Jesus Christ.
The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross is a complete sacrifice that comes with the full salvation package. Just like we were taught in class, that the sacrifice of Jesus dealt with both the sin problem and the healing problem (Sickness and disease).
The sacrifice of Jesus Christ took care of every kind of sin (Past, present and future) and every kind of healing that a believer will desire. Its left for the believer to have a complete revelation of what the communion entails whenever he/she is to partake of it and fully grasp every single benefit that comes with the communion especially in the area of healing and health.Chibuike Onyeogulu
ParticipantThe first Passover meal in the old testament (Exodus 12:13) partook by the Israelites foreshadowed the Communion in the new testament (Matthew 26:26-28) partook by Jesus and his disciples. The blood of the lamb protected the Israelites from destruction (Psalm 105:37), just as the blood of Jesus Christ redeems and protects believers today.
Participating in the Lord’s table is a way for believers (Christians) to remember and acknowledge the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross for their sins. It is a reminder of the new covenant established through His blood. However, the Lord’s Table, or Communion, holds profound truths concerning healing and health. Here are some scriptural insights:
• Healing Through Christ’s Body – The bread, which is taken during communion represents Jesus’ body, which was broken for us. (1 Corinthians 11:24), “and gave thanks to God for it. Then He broke it in pieces and said. This is my body, which is given for you: do this in remembrance of me.” His broken body signifies healing for believers, as prophesy in (Isaiah 53:5) “But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed”.• Deliverance Through His Blood – The wine symbolizes Jesus’ blood, which was shed for the remission of sins. (Matthew 26:28 says), “For this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and His people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sin of many.” His blood not only cleanses sin but also brings deliverance from sickness and bondage.
When Jesus took care of the sin problem during His crucifixion on the cross, he also took care of sickness and disease which comes as a result of sin. Therefore, partaking of the communion is also confirming our healing which was obtained during Jesus’s death on the cross. Apostle Peter (1 peter 2:24) also confirmed the fulfillment of this prophesy in Isaiah 53:5 and apostle James (James 5:14-15) also emphasizing on the fact that a prayer for healing can also extend to the forgiveness of sin.
Furthermore, (1Corinthians 11:29-30) caution against partaking of Communion unworthily, emphasizing the need to discern the Lord’s body. Not doing so can result in sickness and weakness, suggesting a link between proper remembrance and physical well-being. Thus, this verse reinforces the idea that those who do not discern the Lord’s body in Communion can experience physical consequences but when done rightly can lead to healing and strength.
In conclusion, whenever we partake of the communion, we are taking in Jesus’s DNA (John 6:56) because Jesus Christ now lives in us and we also in Him. In Christ there is no sickness or disease.Chibuike Onyeogulu
ParticipantIts being an interesting exercise with regards to the new insight and revelation obtained in course of engaging in this assignment and also a challenging one with regards to sorting out materials for this assignment.
However, the concept of creationism with regards to the origin of the human soul is one concept most believers could easily agree with or buy into since we can all agree that God is the creator but the verse of the scripture (Jeremiah 17:9) which says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?” will definitely make you think twice or ask questions like “Did God actually create a deceitful and wicked heart.
A friend told me while on this assignment that the heart and soul are two different things, I quickly looked up the meaning of heart as used in Jeremiah 17:9 from “Bible Strongs concordance” and it literally mean same thing as soul which is the center of activities and having its components of will, intellect and emotion
So, in conclusion God did not create a wicked or deceitful heart thus this concept is rejected and wanting to lean on the concept of traducianism which gives answers to this argument that the soul comes from the parents and the wicked heart as used here is transcend from Adam to us after he disobeyed God.Chibuike Onyeogulu
ParticipantThe theological view of the origin of the human soul have been subjected to three main theories.
The theory of pre-existence
According to this view, every human soul existed before mortal conception and eventually entered or was placed into the body prior to birth. Origen Adamantius, an early Christian scholar, proposed the idea of pre-existence, in that God created each human soul before conception.
Origen referenced Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb, I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations” as his basis of his argument and then brought forth a question, “How could his soul and its images be formed along with his body, who, before he was created in the womb, is said to be known to God, and was sanctified by Him before his birth?
His argument sounds logical, couple with scriptural backing, however I do not agree to it because further studies on this theory totally contradicts God’s foreknowledge (Omniscience), mosaic account of man’s creation in the image of God and lastly, it shed no light on the origin of sin as well as inherited sensual sin which it holds to have come from Adam or upon God’s justice in dealing with sin.
The theory of traducianism
The term ‘traducianism’ comes from the Latin word ‘tradux’, meaning ‘layer’. According to this notion, all souls are, in some way, descended from Adam’s original soul. Tertullian, a prominent early Christian author, taught that the soul is ‘passed on’ from father to child via the organic process of generation. During procreation, both the soul and the body pass on a portion of themselves to their offspring, resulting in the full person, soul and body, being derived from the progenitors.
Again, his argument sounds logical and had scriptural backing as it gives more explanation to the original sin, inherited sensual sin and the subsequent redemption we have in Christ. Traducianists find support in Romans 5:12, “Therefore, just as through one person sin entered the world, and through sin, death, and thus death came to all, and 1 Corinthians 15:22 “For just as in Adam all die, so too in Christ shall all be brought to life”, However, I do not agree with this theory because it still raises a few insuperable problems about personal identity. Psalm 139: 14 and Romans 12:6 laid emphasis on the fact that every human is created fearfully and wonderfully, and God have given every individual a unique gift for doing thing so well.
The theory of creationism
This theory belief is that God created each soul and individual at the very moment he joins it to the developing organism thus, God creates a soul for each body that is generated. This theory gives support to the marked individuality in a child which cannot be explained as a mere reproduction of the qualities existing in parents (Psalms 139:13).
Furthermore, I partially agree to this theory with relation to the fact God is the creator of the human soul however, my general belief regarding the origin of the soul agrees to Pearlman view as seen in the course content, which suggest a cooperation of both God (creator) and parent as the origin. Man begets man in cooperation with “the father of Spirit” (John 1:1-4 and Genesis 5:1-3)

ParticipantHello Victor, Thank you so much for your post, have gained a whole lot from them. I will be commenting on the power of sin as stated from your post.
The power of sin does remind me of how man lost his innocence and inherited the “sin nature” after the fall of man. It is so amazing to know that Adam and Eve were created perfect (holy and without a sinful nature) but its also sad to know that they lost all this perfection out of just a simple disobedient to the instruction given to them by God. I can remember from one of our classes in this course the instructor mentioned that the “Glory of God” departed from them after they sinned, such is the power behind sin. You can lose so much that is so invaluable just from sinning against God. Thank God for the Gift of the Holy Spirit to us, Who will continually enable us to constantly renew our mind in other to be free of the sin nature inherited down to us.
Another interesting thing that gives me so much pleasure is that the same way we inherited the sin nature at our natural birth is the way we inherited the righteousness of God at our new birth (2 Corinthians 5:17) independent of our actions. Hallelujah!!!Chibuike Onyeogulu
ParticipantThree facts about sin so far as seen from the course harmatology include.
• what is sin? And was made to understand that sin is a degeneracy from original good and not an original creation, hence not by the creators’ (God) action but by the creature’s defection. Sin is ultimately sin against God.
• The fall of man in the garden of Eden resulted in the origin of sin. The first temptation as recorded in Gen 3:1-5 and the succumbing to the temptation as recorded Gen 3:6 both cumulatively resulted to the origin of sin
• The effects of the fall of man lead to the following: the loss of innocence which resulted to the sin nature as experience in the world today, it brought guilt which resulted to a couple of things as mentioned in the course content but the most intriguing one for me is experiencing fear in the presence of God or hiding from God.
A proper understanding of the fall of man in the garden of Eden and several things to note from the first fall which includes having a deeper understanding about the first temptation and the succumbing to the temptation has really impacted my Christian life positively.
Emphasis on James 1: 13 -15 was a key text to me regarding having a deeper understanding about temptations. Now, I can confidently and boldly tell anyone and everyone that choose to listen that temptation is not from God, that the devil is at the root of all temptation which makes temptation evil. Although God can test our level of faith at times just as seen in the case of Abraham when God ask him to sacrifice Isaac (Gen 22) but God can never and will never tempt anyone.
Secondly, I now have a better understanding that the strength of any temptation is the strength of our own lost. The fall was possible because the devil tempted Eve by appealing to her “self”. When self-interests are pursued at the expense of God-interest it does result to sin. However, there is a balance of “self” as can be seen in self-respect, self-worth, self-presentation, self-preservation and self-improvement
Lastly, I now have a better understanding that every temptation is aimed at us sinning against God which will result to death (Romans 6:23).
However, is of note that Jesus Christ has freed mankind from the bondage of sin of which I am included and with this revelation, I can boldly resist every form of temptation aimed at me from the devil by continuous renewal of my mind with the word of God. Hallelujah!!! -
