Participant1. John 1:3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. This scripture is a sample scripture proving the deity of Christ Jesus. This scripture shows him as the creator of all living things acting in accordance with the Father. Matthew Henry’s Commentary on his creative work is “All things were made by him, and not as an instrument. Without him was not any thing made that was made, from the highest angel to the meanest worm.” This shows the depth to which Christ Jesus was involved in the creation of the world. This scripture shows also that all things absolutely were created by Christ Jesus and that without Him not one thing was brought into being. John emphasizes the deity of Christ, when he talks about all things being created through Him, for only God can create. Only God can create out of nothing and bring things into existence. Creatures like us can only make things with materials that are already created. There is no amount of willpower that a human can unction that could cause a single blade of grass to appear out of nothing. God, the creator, spoke creation into existence, Jesus Christ who is the Word, was an active agent in that creation. Jesus is God [1]. Colossians 1:16-19, “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,”
2. John 8:48-59 John 18:4-6 In these two scriptures the name that Jesus uses has roots that is in God’s name in the Old Testament as revealed to Moses at the burning bush. Moses asked God for His name in case the Israelites inquired who had sent him. God replied, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you’” (Exodus 3:14).
It was not until he claimed to be “I AM,” the God that was revealed in the Old Testament, that they attempted to stone Him for blasphemy for that name could only be used of God. The second scripture has “He” after the I AM in italics indicating that it was added by translators, so therefore the same line of thought applies.
3. John 20:28 This particular event occurred after the resurrection with Thomas a disciple of Christ Jesus calling Him God, this further establishes the deity of Christ Jesus. -
